Friday 3rd January
Lacey Evans & Dana Brooke Def. Bayley & Sasha Banks plus Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks kicked off SmackDown with a familiar message – that they are the leaders of the SmackDown Women’s division, all the while continuing to talk about Lacey Evans’ daughter. Evans and Dana Brooke hit the scene to chirp back at Bayley and Banks, but before the two tandems could mix it up, Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross hit the scene and announced their intentions to kick off 2020 by toppling both teams in Triple Threat action.
Evans attempted to get her hands on Banks at the start of the contest, but the ever-resourceful Boss quickly found her way out of the match. The critical moments came when Evans & Brooke neutralized Bayley, allowing The Sassy Southern Belle to catch an all-alone Sasha with a vicious Woman’s Right that gave Dana the opening to connect with a ring-shaking Senton Splash from the top rope for the win.

Bayley & Lacey Evans Brawl Backstage

After weeks of personal animosity, Lacey Evans was finally supposed to take on Sasha Banks on Friday Night SmackDown… but Banks had other plans.
Instead, The Sassy Southern Belle got SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley, on the TitanTron, informing Evans that Sasha was not here tonight. Bayley and Evans exchanged words before Bayley drove Lacey so over the edge that The Lady of WWE stormed backstage looking for her. Bayley tried to dupe Evans, attacking her from behind right as Evans approached Bayley’s locker room door. However, despite the blindside attack, Lacey battled back, taking the SmackDown Women’s Champion down and almost connecting with the Woman’s Right before a WWE official stepped in as Bayley scurried off.

Lacey Evans Def. Bayley

Following Lacey Evans’ raucous backstage brawl with Bayley and Sasha Banks that saw The Boss seemingly injure her ankle, Bayley was forced to saddle up against The Sassy Southern Belle in non-title competition on the blue brand due to Banks not being able to compete.
A clearly less-than-enthused Bayley attempted to put the boots to Evans in the early goings, looking for any advantage possible to put Lacey down for three. The Lady of WWE battled back with a gritty showing though, scoring a major victory over the SmackDown Women’s Champion after connecting with the devastating Woman’s Right.

Bayley attacked Lacey Evans

Two days before she will challenge SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley at Royal Rumble, Lacey Evans sat down for an emotional discussion with Michael Cole to discuss Bayley and Sasha being bullies and showing a lack of locker-room leadership, her own tough upbringing, her service in the Marines and how important it is for her to be an inspiration. After putting Sasha on a shelf for interacting with her daughter, she insisted she would do the same to Bayley at Royal Rumble.
Suddenly, without warning, Bayley attacked The Sassy Southern Belle. As the referees pulled her off their imminent challenger, it was clear that their conflict only intensifies with each interaction.

Bayley ringside for No.1 Contender Match

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley was ready for her victory lap after defeating Lacey Evans to retain the title at Royal Rumble, but the newly returned Naomi wasn’t with it.
Bayley was waxing poetic about how Women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair was inevitably going to choose Bayley as her opponent for WrestleMania, but Naomi took that as her cue to interject. The GLOW shined bright, calling out Bayley for all her bravado and reminding Bayley that she has never defeated Naomi.
However, before Naomi could complete her next sentence, Bayley struck with a sucker punch once it was clear that Naomi was eyeing the SmackDown Women’s Title. Bayley’s upper-hand was short lived though, as Naomi battled back and dropped Bayley to send a message to the champ.
