Bayley Def. Nikki Cross

Nikki Cross challenged Bayley for the Smackdown Women's title this week on Smackdown. Nikki brought the fight to Bayley, but with Sasha Banks ringside she was outnumbered. When the ref had his back turned Sasha threw Nikki into the ring, allowing Bayley to hit her new finisher and pick up the win. However, her celebration couldn't last long because NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler attacked her post-match to send a message.

Bayley on Commentary

Bayley on commentary during Nikki Cross vs Sasha Banks. Still on edge after Banks interfered in her title match against Bayley last week, Cross brought the fight to The Boss, then lunged at Bayley at the announce desk to take out the champ. Cross’ emotions may have worked to her detriment, though, as Banks caught WWE’s Twisted Sister in the Bank Statement for the submission victory.

The captain of the SmackDown Women’s Survivor Series Team made her leave, but Bayley attacked Cross instead of joining The Boss up the aisle. As the champ was raining down blows on Cross, she was blindsided by NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler for the second straight week. The Queen of Spades, who will oppose Bayley in a Triple Threat Match at Survivor Series, continued her onslaught until Banks noticed what was happening and rushed back into the ring to come to her friend’s aid.

Baszler took that as her cue to leave, but not before making a major statement as Survivor Series approaches.

Bayley vs Nikki Cross ends in DQ

As Survivor Series draws closer, Team SmackDown Captain Sasha Banks opted to set up a match to determine whether Nikki Cross will represent the blue brand in the Women’s Survivor Series Elimination Match by giving her the opportunity to prove herself against SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley.

Moments after the match began, however, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler suddenly emerged. When Bayley spotted her fellow titleholder, she decided to call it a day, only to have her exit blocked by NXT’s Rhea Ripley, Mia Yim, Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai.

Bayley attacks Shayna Baszler

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley claimed she wanted to fight NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler ahead of their Triple Threat Match that also includes Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch this Sunday.

In reality, Bayley wanted to get a jump on Baszler.

Noting Bayley’s issues with being attacked from behind, Baszler hit the ring and dared her newfound rival to go face to face with her tonight. The SmackDown Women’s Champion attempted to turn the tables with a sudden sneak attack, entering the ring undetected and blindsiding The Queen of Spades. Baszler battled back, twice locking in Bayley in the Kirifuda Clutch and forcing Bayley into self-preservation mode. Bayley eventually broke free of the dreaded hold, slamming Baszler into the guard rail and the ring post to escape Shayna’s deadly clutches, at least for one more night.

Baszler wouldn’t remain on the ringside floor for long though, as she sat up on the canvas and stared daggers into Bayley, a look that would surely carry over into Survivor Series.

Bayley & Sasha Banks are confronted by Lacey Evans

Bayley and Sasha Banks set out to cast blame for the SmackDown women’s Survivor Series shortcomings, but they may have only drawn the attention of the next challenger to Bayley's title.

The SmackDown Women's Champion and The Boss had sharp words for their peers, with Banks attributing her team's Survivor Series five-on-five-on-five defeat to not being able to choose her teammates.

Having apparently had enough with the verbal derision, Lacey Evans took to the ring to give Bayley and Banks a piece of her mind — and for The Boss, a Woman's Right.

The Sassy Southern Belle tapping Bayley's championship as a way to mock the titleholder’s tap-out loss to Shayna Baszler at Survivor Series proved to be a step too far for Banks, who stepped in front of her close friend and ally before eating a right cross from Evans.

With Evans making her exit, a stunned Bayley was left to check on The Boss, having received an emphatic warning.
